Medieval Unlimited is a challenging experience and is almost entirely unique from default Minecraft. You are a peasant in a new world - you will die, a lot - but don't give up! As you progress by getting better gear and learning the new mechanics, things will get much easier.

Avoid hostile animals, bandits, and pagans.

These aren't your default mindless mobs. Hostiles have completely new skills with custom and unpredictable attacks, and you are much too weak to fight them. Either run away, hide, or expect to die.

Hunt for food, manage your water, and find shelter.

Food and water are the cornerstones of a beginner. Hunt and kill what you can, stay near a reliable water source, and have shelter against enemies.

Join a Kingdom.

Medieval life is always harder alone. Ask if any Kingdoms are recruiting new players in chat.

Create a Kingdom.

If you don't want to join someone else, you will need your own Kingdom. Find an area of land you like, and do /k create.

Aim small and prioritize your playing.

A peasant has humble beginnings, so don't expect to succesfully build a beautiful castle right away. Be smart and prioritize your goals with defence first, decoration last.

Raid and expect to be raided - this is a war server.

War and raid are a common sight and no one is too weak or too powerful to be a target. Defend your land properly with high and thick walls, good gear, man power, and strike first on other Kingdoms.
